Double-R cards fine finish in Woodridge invite

PENINSULA, Ohio -- The Rocky River boys clocked an impressive fourth-place finish in a talented field at the Woodridge-Cuyahoga Valley National Park Cross Country Invitational on Saturday. [results]

Junior Luke Dorenkott registered an 11th-place finish to pace the Pirates in their posting 123 team points. That settled River in behind just St. Ignatius (52 points), host Woodridge (59), and Solon (104) in field of 16 "A" teams in the White Division race in the event held at Kendall Hills in Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Ten "B" teams also ran in the White Division competition; Rocky River's B-squad earned the best score of those 10.

Dorenkott was joined by sophomore Ruairi Zuercher (24th), senior Greg Ganor (27th), sophomore Grant Preto (28th), and junior Ehtan Hazra (33rd) in River's scoring five. The Pirates' average time was 18:51.8.

Bryan senior Joshuah Taylor won the White Division race, covering the course in 17:07.9.

The Rocky River girls' team was idle Saturday.
