ROCKY RIVER, Ohio -- The Pirates continued their winning ways at home with a 4-0 victory over St. Joseph Saturday.

Rocky River (6-1) controlled the contest throughout in running its Detroit Road record to 4-0. The Pirates got two first-half goals off corner kicks with senior Riley Wasserman landing the first marker of the match in the 21st minute and sophomore Maeve Kelly scoring on an Addie Harris assist in the 27th.

On a day that marked Senior Day for the Pirates (7-1), two senior forwards -- Sophia Murray and Taylor Byall -- tidied up the 4-0 win over the Jaguars (4-5-1) with tallies in the second stanza. Those goals were assisted by Kelly and Murray, respectively.

With her three-point afternoon, Maeve Kelly became the first Pirate to reach 20 points this season. With nine goals and four assists, Kelly has 22 points.

Vivian Brandt, Byall, Chloe Eberlein, Harris, Murray, Maddie O'Malley, and Wasserman were honored in a pregame senior salute. That group is now 30-5-4 over 39 home matches the last three-plus seasons.

The 2021 Pirates have won seven straight. An opportunity to run that string to eight runs through their rivals: Rocky River's next game is slated for Wednesday. The fifth-ranked (Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association) Pirates and Rockets will tee it up at Rocky River Stadium Wednesday at 7 p.m. Both teams head into the match with identical 1-0 marks in the Great Lakes Conference West Division play.
