PARMA, Ohio -- Rocky River defeated an overmatched Normandy Invaders squad, 9-0, Tuesday night at Byers Field.

The Pirates (3-1, 2-0 Great Lakes Conference) tallied five goals in the opening half and four in the second. Their nine goals equaled a total hit twice last season (Aug. 31 vs. Fairview, Oct. 14 vs. Normandy). The Oct. 14 match was also at Byers Field; River has scored 26 goals -- allowing none -- over their last three games at Byers.

Rocky River is scheduled to continue its season Sunday with an 11 a.m. neutral-site tilt against the Mansfield Madison Rams. The game will be held in Warsaw, Ohio, as part of the River View Soccer Showcase which is hosted by River View High School. The contest marks a rematch of an Oct. 29 DII OHSAA Tournament semifinal between River and Madison. The Rams won that match, 4-2.
