Four! Streak snapped in 4-stroke cliffhanger against Westlake

RR Girls' Golf

CLEVELAND -- Rocky River had a three-match win streak snapped, as the Pirates were edged by the Westlake Demons Wednesday.

Megan Forshey fired a 10-over 44, leading a trio of Demons to break 50 in the Lake Erie Golf Association match at Little Met Golf Club. With that core, Westlake undercut Rocky River, 188-192. Forshey was just 3-over from Nos. 5-9 on the wind-swept valley track.

The Pirates' four scorers were Kate McKeown (45), Rachel Baird (48), Charlotte Roche (49), and Chloe Holton (50). Matching card-for-card, each of River's top-3 was beaten out by a stroke or two in the taut battle.

Rocky River (3-4, 3-2 LEGGA) is scheduled to return to action with a road match against Columbia (at Pine Brook Golf Links in Grafton, Ohio) on Sept. 7.
