MEDINA, Ohio -- Rocky River played to a 0-0 draw Wednesday night as the Pirates opened up Great Lakes Conference play at Buckeye.
For the Pirates (1-0-2, 0-0-1 GLC), the match marked their second two-for-one bagel sale of the young season: River opened its 2021 campaign with a scoreless draw against Amherst Steele (Aug. 19).
"This was a well-played game," said head coach Kevin Zerbey, whose Pirates were GLC runners-up a year ago. "We had a lot of the ball and managed to outshoot them, but give credit to both goalkeepers."
Rocky River's keeper -- Will DeClerck -- logged three saves in the match. DeClerck has stopped 12-of-12 on the season.
The River Raiders will continue their season Saturday at Padua (3 p.m. kickoff).
