ROCKY RIVER, Ohio -- On Sept. 9, Rocky River let a 2-0 lead slip away in a Great Lakes Conference match at Buckeye. The Bucks came back to net two in the game's second half, and the contest finished a draw.

The 2020 Pirates would win their next four matches without allowing a goal. They would win 16 straight games until falling in an OHSAA DII semifinal. On Wednesday evening in steamy Rocky River Stadium, the Pirates earned a measure of retribution by defeating Buckeye, 7-1.

Rocky River (1-1, 1-0 GLC) got two goals from junior Annika Mocho, and one goal each from Taylor Byall, Maeve Kelly, Sophia Sindelar, Sophia Murray, and Marin Richmond.

The Pirates are slated to host a non-conference game against Louisville on Monday.
