CHESTERLAND, Ohio – Rocky River played to a scoreless draw with Hawken in nonconference action on Thursday.
“The boys bounced back with a solid effort after Monday’s loss,” said Head Coach Kevin Zerbey, whose Pirates dropped a 3-1 decision to Chagrin Falls on Monday. “Hawken’s field is huge, and they used the space well against us. But we did what we had to defensively to keep them from scoring.”
Senior goalkeeper Connor O’Toole was between the pipes for River. The Pirate captain was credited with his 13th career shutout.
Rocky River (1-1-1) is now 7-2-2 all-time against Hawken.
Up next for the Pirates is a Saturday afternoon game (2
p.m.) at Padua.
