ROCKY RIVER, Ohio – The Rocky River City School District (RRCSD)
started the 2019-2020 school year with a District-wide Convocation on Tuesday
morning in the Rocky River High School auditorium.
Superintendent Dr. Michael Shoaf and Board of Education
President Ruth Beach each welcomed teachers and staff prior to the first day of
school on Wednesday, August 21.
Several presentations took place during Convocation.
Executive Director of Human Resources and Support Services
Sam Gifford introduced the 24 new teachers and staff, while Jennifer Norman, Executive
Director of Pupil Services, introduced employees who have served in the
District for 10, 15, 20 and 25 years.
Eight employees – Felisita Armitage, Richard Haag, Cheryl Hackenberg, Judy Hudson, Jill Jones, Sarah Masterson, Anthony Ramirez and Jeff Smith – were received special recognition for their 25 years of service to the RRCSD.
Assistant Superintendent Elizabeth Anderson recognized Daniea Beard and Hudson as Master Teachers, while eight teachers – Jenna Bilyk, David Hendrickson, Kristina Kennedy, Kristopher Kolwicz, Sam Rodriguez, Kelly Sunderville, Matthew Sycz and Angela Wetula were recognized for completing the Resident Educator Program.
Robin Rosario, the
Executive Secretary of Facilities Operations, was honored as the 2019 Employee
of the Year. Melissa Liberatore, a Counselor at Kensington Intermediate School,
received the 2019 Teacher of the Year Award.
