ROCKY RIVER, Ohio – Rocky River earned a solid 3-0 (26-24, 25-11, 25-14) victory over Valley Forge in a Great Lakes Conference home match on Saturday.
Senior Emily Stanciu stuffed the stat sheet with 11 kills,
five aces and 17 digs while being tagged with just three errors in those three
categories. The Pirates (3-1, 3-0 GLC) tallied 14 en route to their third
straight victory. Rocky River now has 33 aces over its last two matches.
On Saturday, River rallied after a hard-scrabble first set.
The Pirates would yield just 25 points the rest of the way.
Up front, Stanciu (11 kills, one attack error), Paige Waite
(12 kills, two attack errors) and Madie Shoaf (six, one) led the Maroon &
White to a .213 attack percentage.
Amanda Franz logged 15 digs and three aces. Taylor Spies
added 11 assists and 11 digs.
Over River’s last two matches, Stanciu – a senior captain – has hit .300 while collecting seven aces.
