Sweet victory

RR Girls' Golf

AVON, Ohio – Ciara Grieve fired a 45 to lead Rocky River to a 194-229 victory over Bay in Lake Erie Girls Golf Association action on Wednesday.

Grieve carded her fine round – which was more than five strokes under her season nine-hole average -- on the 2,476-yard inward nine at Sweetbriar Golf Club. She was joined on the River score sheet by Kate McKeown (46), Lexi Aguilar (50) and Sarah Farling (53).

With Wednesday’s match in the books, Rocky River (5-1, 4-0 LEGGA) will now be off until Sept. 3 (vs. Columbia at Pine Brook Golf Club in Grafton, Ohio).



CANNON FIRE …

YOUNG BUCS: The Pirate junior varsity squad defeated Bay, 185-235, on Wednesday. The Maroon & white were led by Rachel Baird (45) and Lauren Solecki (49).

LOW BLOW: River’s 194 at Sweetbriar marked the team’s best score in LEGGA play this season.  The Pirates have won each of their four league matches by more than 30 strokes.
