AVON LAKE, Ohio -- Rocky River carded a 10th place finish in an Ohio DI Northeast District sectional tournament at Sweetbriar Golf Club on Tuesday. [Results]

The Pirates posted a four-man team score of 466, which placed in a tie for 10th in a field of 16 teams. Junior Kate McKeown carded a team-best 54-50--04 on the day. Joining McKeown among River's posted scores were seniors Sarah Farling (60-58--118) and Ciara Grieve (58-61--119) and freshman Chloe Holton (64-61--125). Rocky River finished in a tie with Midview in a field vying for four district-qualifying slots.

Led by medalist Cara Heisterkamp, who fired a 3-under 69, Magnificat won the event handily. The Blue Streaks notched a team score of 337. Olmsted Falls (384), Avon Lake (387), and Strongsville (390) also advanced in the DI postseason.

For the Pirates, Tuesday's action on a fine early-autumn day brought the 2020 season to a close.

"It wasn't the way we wanted to end things," said Head Coach Rick Haag, whose Double-R squad went 11-2 on the season and won the crown in the Lake Erie Girls Golf Association. "But I appreciate the effort of these girls today and all season. I'm looking forward to see what some returning upperclassmen and a lot of young players can accomplish next fall."
