AVON LAKE, Ohio -- Rocky River had its four-match win streak snapped in a non-conference tilt at Avon Lake on Saturday.

The Pirates (11-7) were sunk by the Shoregals in three sets (25-17, 25-20, 25-23) of an athletic and energetic match. Top performers for Rocky River included Clare Duffy (four kills, 11 digs), Taylor Spies (15 digs against just four dig errors), Emily Slyman (25 assists), Paige Waite (nine kills, three aces), and Samantha Young (eight kills, 14 digs).

The Saturday action against a talented Avon Lake foe marked River's first shutout loss since Sept. 12.
