Tigers pull rank in 3-1 win over Pirates

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio -- A three-match Pirate win streak fell by the wayside in a 3-1 Rocky River loss to seventh-ranked (DII Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association) Chagrin Falls on Saturday night.

Scoring for a second straight game and for the fifth time this season, junior Hogan Kern tallied River's lone goal. In what was a well-played and exciting match, the talented Tigers (13-0) were scored upon for just a third time this season. 

For the Pirates (8-5), Saturday's loss at Rocky River Stadium marked the end of an impressive run that saw the Maroon & White notch 21 goals in a three-game win streak.

River's next contest is slated for Wednesday, when the Detroit Road Buccaneers host Normandy in a Great Lakes Conference tilt (7 p.m.).


CANNON FIRE ...

YOUNG BUCS: The Pirate junior varsity squad played Chagrin Falls to a 0-0 draw prior to Saturday's feature under the lights. Will DeClerck was credited with eight saves. The River JV is now 3-5-3 on the season.

HIGH FIVE: With Hogan Kern netting his fifth goal of the season, six Pirates (Kern, Michael Triplett-5, Nate Keeling-5, Jack Maher-5, Gold Rrustemaj-9, Chase DeClerck-13) have now scored five-or-more goals this season. Kern's season line includes five goals and three assists.
