Pirates place fifth at Woodridge Invite

PENINSULA, Ohio -- The Rocky River Boys' squad carded a fifth-place finish in Saturday's Woodridge Cuyahoga Valley National Park Invitational. (Results)

Bolstered by the top-20 finishes of Luke Kishna and Greg Ganor, the Pirates scored a point total of 188 in the combined varsity-JV format. Rocky River was fifth among 15 varsity squads, several of which are tagged with top rankings in the state.

Kishna crossed the wire in 18 minutes-and-8.8 seconds to take 13th place as River's top finisher. Ganor followed with a time of 18:14.6 (16th place) on a seasonable 56-degree day at the Virginia Kendall Hills course in Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The Pirates' three other scoring runners were Luke Dorenkott (33rd), Seth Williams (36th), and Ruairi Zuercher (90th).

Host Woodridge won the event, edging St. Ignatius, 53 points to 57.

The Rocky River girls' team was off this weekend.
