Pirates win swashbuckling battle against Raiders

RR Girls' Golf

GRAFTON, Ohio -- The Rocky River Pirates edged the Columbia Raiders, 196-203, on Wednesday. The Maroon & White got a boost from Ciara Grieve, who carded a team-best 45 on the 2,670-yard outward nine at Pine Brook Golf Club.

Grieve, Kate McKeown (47), Lauren Solecki (50), and Lexi Aguilar (54) were River's four scoring players in the late-summer Lake Erie Girls Golf League contest between two evenly matched foes. In a match that would go down to the wire, Grieve and Aguilar logged key scores late. Grieve birdied the sixth and ninth; Aguilar parred No. 8.

And for the Double-R, the victory was par for the course: the Pirates are now 5-1 in LEGGA play. They are 6-2 overall.

River's next match is slated to be a home event (Little Met Golf Course) against Keystone on Tuesday.
