Watered down: River falls to Avon Lake

RR Girls' Golf

AVON, Ohio – Rocky River returned to action Monday with a non-league match at Avon Lake. The Pirates carded a solid 192 but were undercut by a talented Shore Gals squad.

Avon Lake won the match on the opening nine at Sweetbriar Golf Club by a final score of 164-192. The loss marked River’s first of the season.

Rachel Bair (47), Kate McKeown (48), Ciara Grieve (48), and Lexi Aguilar (49) were the Pirates’ four scoring players. Grieve’s round was highlighted by a pair of pars (No. 5, No. 9).

Monday’s match marked the first of three in as many days for the Rocky River Pirates. The Maroon & White are slated to play a home-and-home against the Bay Rockets Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday’s match will be at Little Met Golf Course in Rocky River Reservation. Wednesday’s event will be back at Sweetbriar.
