River girls take third at Ashland meet

ASHLAND, Ohio -- The Rocky River Girls' team competed in Saturday's Ashland Classic, and the Pirates took third place in a field of six teams. [Results]

The Maroon & White posted a team score of 57. That figure was bested only by the host Ashland Arrows (33 points) and Reynoldsburg (52). Carolyn Wanosik and Alison Ritvo paced the Rocky River effort, placing second and fourth, respectively. Wanosik clocked in with a final time of 20:14.09; Ritvo finished in 20:40.94.

The Pirates' other scoring runners were Reagan Connelly (14th),  Saraa Abuzarieh (16th), and Mia Hildebrand (21st). River's five-man average was 21:48.66.


CANNON FIRE ...  

JV BOYS: On Sept. 12, the boys' junior varsity ran in a quad meet hosted by Valley Forge High School. The Pirates placed second in the meet, posting a team score of 47. Sophomores Isaac Linville and Majid Abuaun led the team, earning finishes of fourth and fifth, respectively.
