RR Girls' Soccer

LAKEWOOD, Ohio -- Add the weather to a list of foes that haven't stopped the Rocky River Pirates in 2020.

On a drenched Monday night at Lakewood Stadium, the Pirates defeated the Lakewood Rangers, 2-0, to remain unbeaten in the 2020 season. Slogging their way one goal in each half, the rain-soaked raiders from Rocky River earned their seventh shutout win of the season. On Monday, the most recent of those clean sheets was logged against a Lakewood team which had scored 22 goals over its previous four matches.

The fifth-ranked (DII Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association) Pirates got a first-half goal from Taylor Byall and a second-half twine-finder from Maya Patti. Goalkeeper Sabrina Rick registered two saves at the other end in recording her 19th career shutout. Rocky River (7-0-2, 5-0-1 Great Lakes Conference) has now earned shutouts in each of its last four matches.
