ELYRIA, Ohio – Rocky River went 2-1 in the Elyria power Quad on Saturday.
The Pirates (11-4) lost to Elyria, 2-0 (27-25, 25-21) while defeating Massillon, 2-0 (25-17, 25-19) and Brookside, 2-1 (19-25, 25-18, 25-12). The loss to Elyria marked Rocky River’s first defeat since Aug. 27.
The Pirates logged a .221 attack percentage over the
combined seven sets.
Standout performances included those by Austoia Miller (errorless .372 hitting mark, 16 kills), Emily Stanciu (26 kills, 29 digs), Paige Waite (28 kills), Taylor Spies (53 assists), and Amanda Franz (59 digs). Stanciu logged five aces in River’s 2-1 victory over Brookside.
The Pirates are slated to return to Great Lakes Conference
play on Tuesday when they visit Holy Name.
