Warriors battle back, beat Bucs, 7-6

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio -- On Tuesday, Rocky River dropped a 7-6 contest to Fairview in extra innings.

A day after besting the Warriors, 4-3, at Bohlken Park, the Pirates fell behind, 6-1, after Fairview landed two runs in the fifth inning and three in the sixth. But Rocky River battled back with two runs in the sixth. In the seventh, the Pirates got three to send the game into the eighth. After Fairview took a 7-6 lead in the top of the eighth, the Pirates nearly pulled out a comeback victory in the home half. The winning run was in scoring position on a game-ending line-out to left field.

Braedon Spies (3-for-4, RBI), Michael DiFranco (2-for-5, two RBIs), and Jacob Florentine (2-for-3, double) had multiple hits for the Maroon & White.

Rocky River is scheduled to play a road game against Elyria Catholic on Wednesday.
