ROCKY RIVER, Ohio -- River Baseball returned to the diamond Saturday, and the Pirates were defeated, 10-1, by the Chardon Hilltoppers.

The Baseball Buccaneers were held to a lone base hit (Gavin O'Brien) in a contest that saw the visiting nine log crooked numbers in four of seven innings. The Rocky River (0-1) defense was undone by 12 walks and five errors.

"This isn't the start we wanted," said Head Coach Darryl Sanders, "but we faced a very good team today. We'll grow from this experience and move forward."

The moving-forward part for Sanders' charges begins Monday when River plays host to Cleveland Central Catholic.
