ROCKY RIVER, Ohio -- Rocky River dropped an extra-inning home game against Valley Forge on Tuesday. A late-inning Pirate comeback from an 8-2 deficit sent the game into the eighth with the two Great Lakes Conference foes tied, 8-8. The Patriots outscored the Pirates, 4-0, in the extra frame and won the game, 12-8.

Valley Forge outhit River, 14-5. Gavin O'Brien went 2-for-2 with a double, a walk, and a run scored. Anthony Ferchill went 1-for-4 with a game-tying, two-out, two-run run single in the bottom of the sixth. River scored six runs in that penultimate stanza.

The loss drops the Pirates under .500. Through seven games, the Double-R is 3-4. The Sons of Blackbeard are 2-3 in GLC play.
