NMSC Recognizes 16 RRHS Students

Rocky River High School seniors Grace Janosik, Olivia Loparo, Hannah Mazzei, Ergis Mecaj, Elliott Moreau, Siwei Wang, Jessica Zelinski, Victoria Zelinski were recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) as National Merit Semifinalists. These students are now eligible to continue in the National Merit Competition for over $33 million in college scholarships. Less than 1 percent of high school seniors in the United States earned the distinction this year.

Eight seniors were also recognized as National Merit Commended Students: Nicole Auvil, Laura Banks, Emily Bollin, Alison Brugh, William Kelly, Tim McDonough, Katharine Mediate and Matt Zenko. These students will receive letters of commendation in recognition of their outstanding academic promise.

NMSC, a not-for-profit organization that operates without government assistance, was established in 1955 specifically to conduct the annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Scholarships are underwritten by the NMSC with its own funds and by approximately 420 business organizations and high education institutions that share NMSC’s goals of honoring the nations scholastic champions and encouraging the pursuit of academic excellence.
