RRMS Car Drop-off and Pick-up 2015-2016

Rocky River Public Library and the Rocky River Board of Education collaborated on a traffic study in 2014 performed by professional traffic engineers from Hatch Mott McDonald to increase the safety of Rocky River Middle School students who are dropped off and picked up by vehicles in the Middle School area. The map below shows the car and pedestrian routes recommended by the study.

· In the Middle School parking lot per Principal Megan Rose:

o At all times, cars should stay out of the red painted bus lane.

o In the morning, cars dropping students off should enter from Lakeview Avenue and exit onto Riverview Avenue.

o In the afternoon, cars picking up students should pull into the Middle School lot and find a parking space to wait for students.

· Along Hampton Road:

o The sidewalk to the Middle School is located on Hampton Road between the Library parking lot and the tennis courts

o Students can be dropped off or picked up along Hampton Road.

· In the Library parking lot:

o The pedestrian access and a new crosswalk to the Middle School sidewalk is now located across from the Library entrance. Students can safely walk between the school, Library and Hampton Road outside of the Library parking lot.

o In the morning, use only the front of the Library parking lot to avoid interfering with students using the new crosswalk.

o In the afternoon, the Library is open and the Library parking lot is crowded with patrons and students– circumstances that require extra caution. Using Hampton Road rather than the Library lot for afternoon pick-ups will avoid this situation.
