Superintendent’s Message

As a school community we have collaboratively planned a series of informative and timely presentations for our students, parents, and residents known as Town Hall Meetings. These meetings are designed to share important and useful information regarding topics that effect students, families, and our community.

Past Town Hall Meetings included:

The Rising Epidemic: Prescription Drugs and Heroin Problem
• This impressive presentation provided facts about the abuse of prescription drugs and heroin use among our youth, offered an opportunity talk with a professional panel, and shared services/resource information for assistance.

Robby’s Voice
• This powerful presentation offered by Rob Brandt raised awareness of the issues surrounding drugs and addiction with our students, parents, and community.

Hidden in Plain Sight
• Presented by the Bath and Copley Police Department, this traveling exhibit of a teenager's bedroom provided learning opportunities about items that may indicate a teen is involved in high-risk behavior.

Our next Town Hall Meeting is scheduled for March 14, 2016, 7pm, in the Rocky River Middle School Commons. The topic for the evening will be Social Media: What parents need to know! presented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Carol M. Skutnik. With extensive prosecutorial knowledge of cases and events regarding social media and juveniles, Carol Skutnik will share information to help parents keep children safe on the web. Assuredly, this Town Hall Meeting is a must see presentation for all parents with children using social media and the Internet.

As a school community we continue to research challenging social issues for future Town Hall Meetings. To this end, if you have an idea for a Town Hall Meeting, please let me know.

Best wishes for continued educational success!

Sincerely,

Michael G. Shoaf
