Win streak continues as Pirates open busy stretch with conquest at Holy Name

RR Baseball

PARMA HEIGHTS, Ohio (April 25, 2024) -- The unbeaten Pirates are still just that. On Thursday, Rocky River opened a busy five games-in-six days stretch with a 7-2 victory at Holy Name.

The Double-R broke free from a mid-game 2-2 tie with three runs in the top of the fifth and then two tack-on runs in the seventh. Pitchers Thomas Rossi (six innings, two unearned runs) and Joe Brant (one inning, no runs) worked around seven River errors in the Great Lakes Conference crossover contest. Rossi helped his own cause by collecting two hits and three RBIs.

RBIs by Josh Mommers, Rossi, and Michael Perry helped the Pirates extricate themselves from the fifth-inning tie.

Rocky River (14-0) is scheduled to host Brookside Friday and then travel to Elyria Saturday. The Sons of Blackbeard also have games scheduled Monday and Tuesday.
