Double-R doubles up for coed tourney

RR Boys and Girls Golf

MEDINA, Ohio (Sept. 25, 2023) -- Rocky River's Boys and Girls teams competed as a unit in Monday's Fox Meadow Coed Classic. The Pirates posted a combined score of 681 to place fifth in a field of 10 teams.

On the boys side, Nick Tianello leveraged four birdies in a 3-over 75 over the 6,259-yard Fox Meadow Country Club. His 39-36--75 was the lead edge of a strong 310 for the team. That tally came up just one stroke short of tying St. Ignatius (309) for the tournament title in the boys competition. River's scoring four were Tianello, Luke Dietrich (38-38--76), Caden Lawrence (39-39--78), and Jack Hurt (40-41--81).

In the girls competition -- playing Fox Meadow at 4,988 yards, Rocky River filed a 371 to place seventh in a field of 10 teams. The four RRHS scorers were Chloe Holton (40-39--79), Mia Ginnetti (41-41--82), Addie Crane (49-50--99), and Ava Mae DeMooy (60-51--111).

Magnificat won the girls crown with a score of 301. St. Ignatius and Magnificat played as a team and led the coed standings with their 309-301--610. Highland let the under-the-same-roof set with its 311-307--618. River's 310-371--681 placed fifth in a field of 10.

The tournament was hosted by Brunswick High School.
