SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio (April 15, 2023) -- Rocky River returned to action Saturday with a 12-7 victory at Hathaway Brown.

An early-second-half surge propelled the Pirates to their third consecutive win. The contest at HB marked River's first game after a 10-day layoff.

Rocky River (7-1) outshot its hosts 19-15 and won 13-of-21 (61.9%) draws. Grace Dewitt and Mackenzie Russell each scored three goals in the victory, the Pirates' third in a row over the Blazers.

Hathaway Brown took a 4-3 lead after three straight scores late in the opening half. But River scored a late-first-half goal and the first five goals of the second to take control of the game. Russell was responsible for three of those combined six scores. She also clocked two ground balls and two caused turnovers in the contest.

The Blazers got within two at 9-7, but over the last nine minutes-and-54 seconds, the Pirates outscored HB 3-0 to ice the game.

Grace Dewitt added three ground balls and a caused turnover. With her three netfinders, she has now registered four straight multi-goal games. Reagan Connelly filed 4 GB. Annika Mocho logged a scoop and four spills; she now has 8 CT over River's last two games.

The Pirates are slated to return to Northern Ohio Lacrosse League play Tuesday when they visit the Avon Eagles (7 p.m.).
