Spring Break(through): Double-R doubles up on Tigers to highlight break games

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio (April 17, 2023) -- Pirate batting highlighted Rocky River's three games over spring break. Mostly.

After being held to one hit in a 12-0 loss to Cloverleaf Friday, the Double-R dented the plate 42 times in sweeping a Saturday doubleheader against Chagrin Falls. River took a wild opener 22-21 and then dominated the nightcap 20-4. The combined 42 runs marked the Pirates' most in back-to-back games in the last eight years.

In the double-dip against the Tigers, the Maroon & White had 18 hits in game 1 and 18 walks in game 2. River's on-base percentage for the day was .648.

Over the three Friday-Saturday games combined, Leigh Konet went 4-for-7, with two doubles, six runs batted in, five runs scored, five walks and four stolen bases. Sienna DeMooy went 5-for-9, with 3 2B, 5 RBI, and 6R. Colleen Meese went 3-for-5, with 2 2B, 5 RBI, 5R, 7 BB, and 4 SB.

Meese owns a .714 OBP through the team's first seven games.

Rocky River (4-3) is scheduled to play games every day Monday-Saturday this week.
