CLEVELAND (Dec. 15, 2002) -- Rocky River opened Great Lakes Conference match play Thursday, and the Pirates went 0-1-1 in two legs of a tri-match hosted by Normandy High School. The Wrestling Raiders registered a 27-27 tie against the host Invaders; they lost to Holy Name 29-24.

In bouts that made it to the mat, the Double-R went 2-2 against Normandy and 1-3 against the Green Wave. River winners on the mat were Dylan Heffron (1-1 with a pin at 126 pounds) and Connor Schiefferle (2-0 with a pin at 150). Schiefferle is now 6-1 on the young season.
