RR Girls Lacrosse

AVON, Ohio (April 18, 2023) -- Rocky River earned its second shutout of the season (16-0 over Mentor March 28) and its fourth consecutive victory with a 15-0 triumph over the Avon Eagles Tuesday.

In the Northern Ohio Lacrosse League road win, the Pirates (8-1, 5-1 NOLL) outshot the Eagles 40-7 and put 29 shots on frame to Avon's 2. Rocky River was paced by Alexis Tisler, who tallied three goals and three assists in the one-sided affair on a chilly night at AHS.

The Striped Buccaneers won the turnover battle, committing nine miscues to Avon's 19. River won 22-of-29 (75.9%) ground balls and 12-of-16 (75%) draws in what marked the team's fourth straight game away from home.

Tisler, who has now scored multiple goals in four straight games, added three ground balls to her stat line. She has now logged five points or more in three games this season.

Other key contributors Tuesday were Kaitlyn Byrne (3G), Grace DeWitt (3G, 4 GB, three draw controls), Lucy Kolonick (1G, 1A, 1 GB, two caused turnovers), and Annika Mocho (5 GB, 1 CT). DeWitt, whose third goal on the evening marked the 40th of her career, has now scored exactly three goals in three straight games. She has registered multiple goals in seven games this season.

Rocky River will play its 2023 War by the Shore game against the Bay Rockets Thursday. Bay is undefeated this season (9-0, 5-0) and has won every game by a margin of seven goals or more. Thursday's River-Bay game is slated for an opening draw at 7 p.m.
