WESTLAKE, Ohio (April 26, 2023) -- Rocky River was swept in a pair of midweek Great Lakes Conference West Division games against Westlake. Winning both games in run-rule, wire-to-wire fashion, the Demons downed the Double-R 16-4 at Rocky River Tuesday and 18-1 at Westlake Wednesday.

The Pirates (5-8, 1-5 GLC West) committed four errors in each game. They have allowed 16-or-more runs in three of their last four games.

Over the two-game, home-and-home set, the Maroon & White were led by Julianna Benjamin (3-for-5, walk) and Leigh Konet (2-for-5, home run). Konet's round-tripper, a two-run homer in the fifth inning of Tuesday's contest, marked the first of her career and the second in River's 2023 campaign.

The double-dip against the Demons marked just the front end of a busy week for the Pirates. On Thursday, Rocky River will travel to Bay looking to snap a five-game losing streak. The Buccaneers are also scheduled to play road games Friday (at Parma) and Saturday (at Lorain).
