River runs win streak to 6 with win at Bay

BAY VILLAGE, Ohio -- The Pirates remained unbeaten this spring as they defeated the Bay Rockets 14-4 in Tuesday night Northern Ohio Lacrosse League action.

Rocky River went on an early 7-0 run and parlayed that into a 10-3 lead at halftime. A staunch River defense -- one that has now allowed just six goals over the team's last four games -- yielded just one netfinder in the second half, and the Pirates played out their sixth straight triumph.

Bay (5-2, 3-2 NOLL) had lost just once prior to Tuesday night, and the Rockets went into the game allowing just 6.7 goals per contest.

Rocky River (6-0, 4-0) had seven players notch multiple points on the night. Junior Olivia Konopka led the way with four goals and an assist. Sophomore Alexis Tisler chimed in with two goals and three assists. Fellow sophomore Kaitlyn Byrne had three goals and an assist. Senior Ella Nejad garnered a pair of goals and as many assists. Sophomore Daisy Thompson filed two goals and an assist. Sophomores Reagan Connelly (two assists) and Ava Patti (goal, assist) had two points each.

With their 14 goals against the rival Rockets, the Striped Buccaneers have now logged 64 goals over their last four games. Byrne (14 goals) and Konopka (13) have been the Pirate cannons most often fired over that stretch.

Tuesday's contest at Bay Memorial Stadium marked the first of three straight road games for the Pirates. Rocky River will play two in the Columbus area this weekend: at Granville Friday and at Worthington Kilbourne Saturday.
