ROCKY RIVER, Ohio (Oct. 18, 2022) -- The Pirates blanked the Kennedy Eagles 3-0 (25-1,25-6,25-7) Tuesday to advance in the DI Maple Heights District Tournament.

Bouncing back from a loss to Holy Name in last Thursday's Great Lakes Conference Championship match, Rocky River served its way to the dominant victory. River clocked 34 aces in the first-round playoff win. Overall, the Pirates are now 5-1 since Sept. 19.

Rocky River (16-6) had six players register multiple kills in a match that saw the home side post an attack percentage of .358. But it was Clare Duffy with 10 aces and Kylie Spies with nine giving JFK the most problems.

The Pirates -- the No. 11 seed in the district brackets -- will now face the No. 9 Brecksville Bees. That match will be hosted by top-seeded Magnificatand is slated to begin at 7:30 p.m.
