FAIRVIEW PARK (Aug. 31, 2022) -- The Pirates closed out the month of August with a pair of Great Lakes Conference wins at Big Met Golf Course Wednesday. In a tri-match on the opening nine of its home course, Rocky River defeated both Fairview and North Olmsted.
The Swinging Corsairs logged three scores in the 30s en route to posting a team total of 154. That topped the Warriors (228) by a couple furlongs and the Eagles (181) by 27 strokes. River's scorers were Owen Toole, Luke Dietrich, Nick Tianello, and Wes Bennett.
Senior Owen Toole tied a career-low with a 1-over 37. Luke Dietrich hit seven greens en route to carding the same score. Nick Tianello needed just 14 putts, as he scrambled his way to a 38. Wes Bennett continued his solid play at Big Met with a 42.
Rocky River (6-1, 5-0 GLC) remained undefeated in league play with the twin wins in the valley. The Pirates hit fairways at a 35.7% clip and 52.8% of its greens in regulation. River averaged 16 putts per man.

WES BANK OF THE RIVER: Rocky River is now 4-1 this season at home. Senior Wes Bennett -- who owns an overall stroke average of 87 -- has logged a fine 84.3 at Big Met.
ON DECK: The Pirates are scheduled to return to action Tuesday with the Midview Tournament at Columbia Hills Country Club in Columbia Station, Ohio.
