ROCKY RIVER, Ohio -- Rocky River took fifth place in the April 30 Great Lakes Conference Championship Tournament, and the Pirates went 1-3 across four matches between April 27-May 2.
River lost to GLC rival Bay 4-1 on April 27. Will Gecsi provided the Pirates' lone point by winning 6-4, 0-6, 10-8 at third singles.
On April 28, the Sons of Blackbeard were bested by Amherst Steele 4-1 in a non-conference match.
On April 29, the Pirates swept the Oberlin Phoenix in doubles play (1D: Ben Greenfield/Gesci, 2D: Gus Fritz/Sergio Lucey) but suffered a 3-2 setback.
Rocky River finished fifth of nine squads at the GLC tourney and then downed GLC foe Parma 5-0 on May 2.

River is slated to take on North Ridgeville, Avon, and Lake Ridge later the week of May 2.
