RR Softball

WESTLAKE, Ohio -- Rocky River was tripped up by a couple big innings by host Westlake, as the Pirates were felled by the Demons 14-4 in Tuesday afternoon Great Lakes Conference West Division action.

A 4-3 Westlake lead exploded into and 8-3 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning, and the Demons then finished off their run-rule conquest with a 6-spot in the fifth. Westlake leveraged 12 hits, including four for extra bases, and six walks in the victory. The Demons also took advantage of three Rocky River errors; pitchers Colleen Meese and Katie Mommers combined to yield the 14 runs, nine of which were earned.

Tyne Braatz doubled and homered and drove in three runs for the Demons. Mommers doubled and singled and knocked in all four River runs. The Pirates (4-6, 2-4 GLC West) also got two hits apiece from Emily Satayathum and Tess Aulisio.

Rocky River is scheduled to play Bay in another West Division tussle Wednesday.
