AVON LAKE, Ohio (Aug. 16, 2022) -- The Double-R doubled up on a pair of Great Lakes Conference foes in a Tuesday GLC nine-hole tri-match at Legacy Golf Course. Rocky River posted a four-man score of 151 on the par-36, 2,897-yard track in Avon Lake.

The Pirates' low tally -- with the team averaging 37.8 strokes per man -- was 10 strokes clear of host Bay (161) and 23 strokes ahead Elyria Catholic (174). River's four scoring players were Nick Tianello (37), Luke Dietrich (38), Dan Capka (38), and Owen Toole (38). The event marked the opening of Rocky River's GLC match season.

The Swinging Corsairs got two birdies each from Tianello and Dietrich. Capka logged what was a strong bounce-back score -- after a 92 at Big Met Golf Course on Monday -- in scrambling fashion. The junior hit three greens but had a team-best 14 putts. As a team, Rocky River (3-0, 2-0 GLC) hit 60.7% of fairways and 58.3% of greens in regulation. The Pirates averaged 17.0 putts per man.

River is slated to host an 18-hole non-conference match against Avon Lake at Big Met on Wednesday.
