Pirates take two in Big Met sweep

RR Boys' Golf

FAIRVIEW PARK, Ohio -- Rocky River closed out its Great Lakes Conference regular season by sweeping a home tri-match Wednesday.

The Pirates (10-2, 10-1 GLC) defeated Holy Name, 164-190, over the 3,229-yard outward nine at Big Met Golf Course; Parma posted a forfeit. Luke Dietrich shot a 38 in the win; Nick Tianello was River's No. 2 with a 3-over 39.

Dietrich carded Rocky River's lone birdie of the day when he reached the par-5 fifth in two and two-putted from 40 feet.

The event marked Senior Day for the Double-R, and seniors Robby Lang and Sam Vannucci were saluted after the match.

"Senior day is always special," said head coach David Hendrickson. "Being able to honor the two young men who have given so much to this program made today a great day. We're appreciative of everything Sam and Robby have done for Rocky River Boys' Golf."

The Pirates are slated to continue their season next Wednesday at the GLC Championship at Rawiga Golf Club in Seville, Ohio.
