Third is the word! River takes 3rd in season-opening invite

BEACHWOOD, Ohio -- The Wrestling Raiders opened their 2021-22 season in style, earning a third-place finish in Saturday's Ron Madow Memorial Tournament hosted by Beachwood High School. [results]

Rocky River clocked a team score of 162, a figure topped only by Akron North (238) and Padua (198) in a field of eight squads. The Pirates had 11 placers in the event. That group was led by junior Nathan Maloney (first place at 132 pounds), freshman Dylan Heffron (third at 113), freshman Henry Lange (third at 120), and sophomore Issa Assad (third at 126).

Maloney went 3-0 with three wins by fall in his triumph at 132. He pinned Brookside's Shawn Moore in 38 seconds in the title bout at 132. Lange (2-2 with two pins), junior Aidan Konet (2-1 with two pins at 190), and senior John Sadiku (2-1 with two pins at 215) also had multiple pins on the day.
