Buccaneers breeze to victory at Grey Hawk

RR Boys' Golf

LaGRANGE, Ohio -- Whipping flags on bent flagsticks didn't stop River. And neither did the Panthers. On a windy day at Grey Hawk Golf Club, the Pirates went low. Rocky River averaged a fine 41.0 among its four score-sheet players, and the Swinging Corsairs posted a 164-212 triumph over Elyria Catholic.

Sophomore Nick Tianello carded a 3-over 39 on the windswept outward nine at Grey Hawk. A birdie-4 at the 485-yard, par 5 fourth ignited a six-hole stretch that saw Tianello go just 1-over. Senior Robby Lang and sophomore Jack Hurt added 41s. Luke Dietrich fired a 43. Hurt's round marked his varsity debut.

The Great Lakes Conference road match closed out three straight days of events for the Pirates (7-2, 7-1 GLC). River's 164 marked a tie for the team's third-lowest nine-hole score of the season.
