COLUMBIA STATION, Ohio --The Pirates swung into September with a ninth-place finish at the Midview Invitational Tuesday.

After seven days without a competition, Rocky River posted a four-man score of 335 over the 6,019 yards of wind-blown Columbia Hills Country Club. Nick Tianello carded an 8-over 79 to lead the Maroon & White in the 14-team tournament hosted by Midview High School. Tianello birdied the 372-yard, par-4 fourth as part of his 40-39--79 round. He was backed on the River score sheet by Luke Dietrich (40-41--81), Robby Lang (43-43--86), and a pair of 89s (Owen Toole, Wes Bennett).

Toole's round included a pair of deuces -- birdies on the par-3 third and 11th holes.

Tianello's 79 marked a season-best in an 18-hole round. The Pirates' ninth-place finish marked their best since Aug. 6 (Great Lakes Conference Preview at Rawiga Golf Club).
