ROCKY RIVER, Ohio -- The Pirates went 2-1 over a trio of matches in the week ending Sept. 5. Rocky River defeated Lakewood on Monday and Normandy on Wednesday and then lost to Brecksville on Thursday.

River downed Lakewood, 4-1, in a Great Lakes Conference tilt Monday. The victory marked Rocky River's first league win of the fall.

On Wednesday, the River Raiders locked down a 5-0 shutout with each victory coming in straight sets. The injury-updated second doubles tandem of Gigi Konrad and Alison Ryland registered a key 6-1, 6-0 win against the Invaders.

River then dropped a 4-1 non-conference match to a strong Brecksville squad Thursday. The Pirates' lone victory was an impressive one, with Samantha Robertson fighting her way back from multiple deficits to earn a 6-4, 7-6 (4) win at first singles.

The Pirates are now 2-8 on the season overall; they are 2-3 across five GLC matches.
