PARMA, Ohio – Rocky River rode the strength of 19 unreturnable serves to a 3-0 win at Parma on Thursday.
River’s 6.3 aces per set marked the program’s second-best service effort over the last two seasons (6.7 vs. Parma, Sept. 25, 2018). Five different Pirates registered multiple aces on an evening that saw the Maroon & White win, 25-13, 25-11, 25-10. Freshman Clare Duffy collected a team-high seven aces in what marked her varsity debut.
The Pirates (2-1, 2-0 Great Lakes Conference) also got solid
performances from Emily Stanciu (six kills while hitting .333), Amanda Franz (8
digs, three aces) and Taylor Spies (11 assists).
