ROCKY RIVER, Ohio – Rocky River dropped an intracity non-conference
match at Magnificat on Monday evening. The host Blue Streaks won in straight
sets, 25-9, 25-10, 25-11.
The Pirates (3-2) were held to a .000 attack percentage by a
talented Magnificat squad. River was led by Sophomore Taylor Spies (13 digs,
seven assists), senior Amanda Franz (17 digs) and senior Emily Stanciu (eight
kills).
A sharp Blue Streak return game held Rocky River to just two service aces over the three sets. The Pirates had swatted their way to 33 aces over their two previous matches. River won those two matches and one more in consecutive fashion since a season-opening loss to Westlake.
