A River rout knocks Parma out

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio -- Rocky River pulled off a two-match season sweep of the Parma Redmen by earning a 3-0 win over the Great Lakes Conference foe on Monday.

The Pirates (12-7, 11-5 GLC) decimated Parma on serves, rocking the Redmen with a season-high 26 aces in the 25-10, 25-13, 25-12 contest. The early-week league action marked Rocky River's fifth shutout of the season and its second of the Redmen. River won, 3-0, at Parma on Sept. 22.

Monday's match against the Redmen was painted Maroon & White by the exploits of Clare Duffy (five kills, eight aces), Emma Liszeski (nine digs, three aces), Taylor Spies (seven digs), Paige Waite (11 kills, eight aces, two blocks), and Samantha Young (five kills, four aces, five kills).

Pirate hitters swatted their way to a .261 average in the match. Rocky River was tagged with just 10 hitting errors and 11 dig errors.

With Monday's victory, the Pirates are now 4-1 over their last five matches at home. River is slated to face a talented Buckeye team at Rocky River Gymnasium on Tuesday.
