RR Swimming & Diving

OBERLIN, Ohio – A combined three individuals earned podium trips, as the Rocky River Boys’ and Girls’ teams registered tremendous performances at Saturday’s Elyria Catholic Pentathlon.

The River boys were paced by Aiden Morris’ runner-up finish in scoring 131.5 points place third in the team standings. The Pirate girls logged two top-6 finishes en route to scoring 245.5 points, a total that dwarfed the rest of the field in the event. The pentathlon was held at Robert Carr Pool on the campus of Oberlin College.

Aiden Morris torpedoed through the water, carding a time of 57.36 seconds in the 100-yard individual medley championship final. His silver-medal finish was preceded by a second-place finish in the 50 freestyle and a third in the 50 butterfly.

On the girls’ side, Peyton Spearry took fourth place (1:03.61 in the IM final) and Anna Skapoulas claimed sixth (1:04.34).

Overall, Rocky River sent nine swimmers (six girls, three boys) into the fifth-event finale.

“We came out of winter training with some big times,” said Boys’ Swimming & Diving Head Coach Mark Harris. “We saw a lot of personal bests, and it was great to see the team come together.”
