RR Swimming & Diving

CLEVELAND – River’s boys’ and girls’ swimming squads placed sixth and second, respectively, in Saturday’s 10th Annual Wally Morton held at Cleveland State University’s Busbey Natatorium.

The Pirate boys’ team scored 90 points in finishing sixth in a field of 10. Rocky River’s top performances were registered by the 400-yard freestyle (third place) and 200-yard free relay (fourth) squads. In the 400 free relay, the Pirate quartet of Drew Helms, Braden Devorace, Aidan Carter and Aiden Morris combined to crank out a final time of 3:26.83. Devorace, Carter and Morris were also members of the fourth-place 200-yard team.

The River girls carded six top-3 finishes in piling up 134 points. The Pirates passed a couple foes late in the meet to earn second in the field of 10 teams. Only Hudson (194 points) – on the strength of eight victories – scored more.

Rocky River placed second in the 400 medley event and third in the 200 medley, 200 free, 200 backstroke, 200 breaststroke and 400 free. Morgan Schuld, Anna Skapoulas and Peyton Spearry were in on three of the team’s top-3 relays. Hannah Burgess, Mary Harte, Blair Pichola, Ella Russell and Kate Tlapa were all in on two.
