Rocky River tallied 106 points in the even costed by Cuyahoga
Heights High School. Waynedale won the meet with a team score of 425.
River’s top point gainers were Matt Williams (second place at 106 pounds), Diego Norena (second at 113) and Mohammed Salti (fourth at 126). Norena went 4-1 with three pins and a tech fall. The sophomore grappler is 8-4 through his first 12 varsity bouts.
Williams has now earned runner-up finishes in consecutive weeks – the veteran 106-pounder took second at last week’s Cobos Insurance Invitational.
Waynedale placed a wrestler in 13 of the 14 weight classes,
with Bears winning six of those.
