Waite & Spies take sting out of Bees

RR Volleyball

BRECKSVILLE, Ohio – Rocky River Volleyball earned a 3-1 victory at Brecksville on Saturday. [game scores not available at time of publication]

Sophomores Taylor Spies and Paige Waite keyed the non-conference road victory. Spies registered 32 assists; her 8.0 per set marked her most in a match since Sept. 5. Waite swatted her way to 15 kills, a .324 attack percentage and five block assists.

Rocky River hit .159 for the match. The Pirates struggled on the serve, committing 10 service errors. But the Maroon & White were solid on volleys, both up front and on the back line.

Austoria Miller recorded nine kills and a .193 average. Madie Shoaf logged six kills while hitting .181. Miller added 16 digs against just four errors. Amanda Franz had 25 digs in the match.


CANNON FIRE …

WAITE – A MINUTE NOW: Paige Waite’s 3.8 kills per set Saturday marked her most in a full-length match (three-plus sets) since Aug. 24. Waite now has a team-high 162 kills on the season.

ACES UP HER SLEEVE: Senior Emily Stanciu had three service aces against the Bees. Stanciu has a team-high 32 aces on the season. She has logged multiple aces in seven matches.
